Anna Mitcham on The Big Book of Domination

Day nine of the blog tour brings you my two cents worth (or two pence worth for my fellow UK readers!) on The Big Book of Domination. For starters, it’s hot. Like, seriously hot. Some incredibly sexy writers and their stories are featured in this anthology and I for one can’t put it down!

My story, All Work and No Play, was my first foray into the wonderful world of writing erotica, but has certainly not been my last. Domination and submission is always a key theme in my writing, whether I intend it to be or not, as that seems to be the way my characters all like to play!  It all starts with the characters for me. I don't so much invent them as get to know them, and it is they and their chemistry that choose the path the story takes. I tap away at the keys, feeling like a voyeur reporting what she is seeing unfolding in front of her, and with no idea where it will lead. It's exciting and I love it.

Here is a mere teaser of the journey Antonia took me on, but for more, you will of course have to buy the book...

As I walk the short distance back to the office I realise with surprise that I am nervous. I’m always the one in control in these situations, and am not used to a man giving as good as he gets, let alone taking the reins. Maybe I’ve met my match, I think to myself and a little shiver of excitement runs through me. I quicken my step, desperate to find out what’s in store for me back at the office. As I’m running up the stairs – I have far too much nervous energy to take the lift – another message comes through,

     I’m waiting, Antonia...
I reach the top floor and enter the open plan office, my heart pounding with apprehension and anticipation. I can’t see my colleague anywhere so I wander in and sit down at my desk, suddenly paranoid that I have been taken for a ride or got the wrong end of the stick. I jump as a hand comes firmly down on my shoulder and a gruff voice whispers in my ear,
‘Time to put your money where your mouth is…’

Evan Mora on The Big Book of Domination

Hi, Evan Mora here. Thanks to D.L. for hosting me on the Big Book of Domination blog tour!

So I’ve been musing on the notion of comfort lately. Now I know comfort isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think about Domination and submission – probably not the second or third either. You think about power and control, you probably think about pain, and most definitely you think about desire and lust and want and need, and believe me, you’ll find all those things and more in this book!

But there is comfort there too. There’s comfort in knowing your role.  There’s comfort in knowing that no matter which end of the flogger you’re on, you’re there because someone has seen your needs and desires and they’ve dovetailed with theirs. You get to come together in a mutually agreed on place and explore all those needs together.  And sometimes, from there, we push one another’s comfort zones, and it can be scary and exhilarating and fantastically liberating all at once.

As someone who often writes from a submissive perspective, pushing the comfort zone of my characters usually involves them going further than they think they can; enduring more then they think they’re able to endure.

I started wondering how else I could push my characters out of their comfort zone, and little angel, my story in The Big Book of Domination was born. In it, a lesbian slave is thrown for a loop when her Mistress brings home a submissive boy who, as it turns out, is poorly trained in the art of pleasuring a woman, and lacks control. Mistress hands her a bag of toys (“nothing you can hurt him too badly with”), and tells her she’s got a week to whip him into shape.

As she struggles with her feelings about being the one wielding the crop and having to play with a boy, she’s pushed out of her comfort zone in the very best kinds of ways…

He’s ready now; he knows what’s coming, so I go to work in earnest, peppering both sides of his ass and thighs with a series of deliberately hard strokes, and though his thighs tremble and his skin turns a deep rich rose he maintains his position. I watch his body to try and gauge where he is: at first he’s stiff and stoic, but then, as the endorphins start to kick in, his moans become less restrained and his back arches ever so slightly.
     Now for the lesson.
“Stand up, boy.” I say, and he complies, turning to face me. His eyes are hazy with pleasure and his cheeks are flushed, and I know a pang of longing so intense it makes my breath catch in my chest. What I wouldn’t give to be in his position right now. And yet, the feel of the leather grip in my hand, the sheer number of things I could do to him…or have him do to me; knowing that I’m the architect of his pleasure and pain right now, all of these things are so much more intoxicating than I’d imagined.

Big Book of Domination Blog Tour Kickoff

THE BIG BOOK OF DOMINATION

There. That's all you need to know: It's really BIG and it's really BEAUTIFUL and it's my newest book and I think you might want it--no, I know you want it.

I think the best way to acquaint you with what you'll find between the print or virtual covers is to give you a peek inside at just a little bit of my introduction, because I really am excited about this book.

Domination. I roll the word around in my head and then the pictures come hard and fast. I visualize a club with which I’m familiar. I can see it: the room’s dark. There are spotlit areas, but in my mind’s eye, they’re empty. I can fill them with my own subs and bottoms. I can cuff a boy to the wall here and fasten a girl to a spanking bench there. I can use rope bondage to tie up a willing slave and raise them off the ground with the help of a winch. There’s a lovely, large throne over there, where I can be worshipped, and there’s a table with about a hundred tie-down points—neural synapses flash more and more pictures through my mind.

Next, I travel to a bedroom. I can see a man in leather pants, and nothing else, wielding a whip. His girl is tied to the bedposts, on her knees, and she’s begging.

But what is she begging for? Another taste of the whip? A slap? A caress? To be allowed to come? It’s all up to him, of course.

Now I’m at a private play party. There are strangers and friends in various forms of undress but this isn’t a swinger’s party. No, this is definitely all about pain and bondage, dominance and submission, cuckoldry and humiliation, all at the whim of the dominants in the group.

I’m a fly on the ceiling of a long-time couple’s bedroom. They might be married; they might not, but it’s easy to see they love each other and have a history. The romance of her sighs and moans as he immobilizes her and forces pleasure upon pleasure on her—is it their anniversary? It’s the little bursts of laughter, peppering the action that makes the scene all the more intimate, all the more real.

I enter a dungeon and see my bottom du jour, who has been so submissively awaiting my arrival. Before me is a table heaped with the tools of my trade. I run my hand over the toys that have been so lovingly laid out for me. My fingers twine in the falls of floggers and play with the tips of single tail whips. I run my hands over paddles and clips, leather and metal cuffs, dildos and plugs made of silicone, metal and glass, various sizes of weights and clamps, rope, chain, locks, gloves and lube, leather bindings and more—it’s all here, begging my inspiration—waiting for the play to begin.

Are you like me? Are your nerve endings zinging? Have I whetted your interest?

I hope I have whetted your interest, but just to make sure, this post kicks off a blog tour. If you follow the schedule, you'll find out more about the book, the individual authors and their stories and maybe you'll find some cool blogs and authors to follow in the bargain.  Here are the dates and locations:

Reading at Northbound Leather

If you're in the Toronto area (or can get into the Toronto area on Sunday afternoon, January 18th, please come by Northbound Leather. This is going to be a very special reading and signing. Just look at the list of greats you can hear, in person. And yes, there will be books on hand for purchase and signing.

And you can even read your own work, if you like. We're setting aside time for erotic readings from the writers in the audience, too. That's right, put on your big kid panties and come prepared.

This reading is a kickoff for an international event tied in with the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Erotica writers want to let you know there's more out there. If you liked Fifty Shades (or if you didn't and wished it could be better) we want to give you a tiny sampling of what else is available, so come on out. There will be refreshments (of some sort...)

See you there!
