(Columbus, OH) -- NLA-International, a leading organization for activists in the pansexual leather community, is now accepting nominations for its annual writing awards for excellence in SM/leather/fetish writing for books, articles, novels and short fiction, which were first published between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014. The deadline for nominations is 31 January 2014. The finalists will be announced in March 2015. The winners will be announced at the National Leather Association's Annual General Meeting. The five award categories are:

Non-Fiction Book (Geoff Mains Award)

Non-Fiction Article (Cynthia Slater Award)

Novel (Pauline Reage Award)

Short Fiction (John Preston Award)

Anthology (Samois Award)

Eligibility for all awards (short fiction, novel, non-fiction book, non-fiction article and anthology) requires first time publication of writing in the 2014 calendar year. If you or someone you know has published a book, article, or story dealing with any aspect of SM, leather, fetish, or kink sexuality please consider nominating it for one of the above awards. Authors and publishers are encouraged to nominate themselves by submitting copies of their work. Nominated works should foster education and promote awareness and a positive image of the leather/SM/fetish community. They should entertain and
educate, while building awareness and tolerance of the community and showcasing the talents of its members. There are no submission fees, but the judges will require either print copies of the nominated work or a digital copy (PDF).

NLA-I has convened a jury of readers whose number includes noted erotica writers, past award winners and leading community activists. The judges are rotated regularly and their names withheld until after judging is complete to prevent lobbying by nominees.

Now in their seventh year, the NLA-I's writing awards have received widespread appreciation and support. A "leather first", they have become the preeminent awards for SM, leather, and fetish writing. Past winners include Laura Antoniou, Gloria Brame, Jack Fritscher, Lee Harrington, Anneke Jacob, Jeff Mann, Jack Rinella, David Stein, Cecilia Tan, Tristan Taormino, Claire Thompson, Alyson Tyler, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Mollena Williams, Annie Cox and Elizabeth Coldwell.

The Big Book of Domination

Had a great New York City launch party and reading for The Big Book of Domination on Saturday, November 15 at Purple Passion.

Laura Antoniou, Rachel Kramer Bussel, David Wraith (joining us all the way from St. Louis MO) and I read from the book to an appreciative crowd of erotica lovers.

Maybe they were so appreciative because of the boozy cupcakes from my favorite place, Prohibition Bakery, and all the Prosecco we went through. But no, I think they had a good time because of the fun erotica readings--and the alcohol.

Right now, if you live in New York, you can get your own signed copy of The Big Book of Domination at Purple Passion (211 W. 20th Street, in Chelsea). These are very special copies as this book is not yet available anywhere else! Amazon won't even have it until November 24th and the book stores may not have it until December. So be one of the first to get your hands on a copy--a signed copy, no less!

And while you're at Purple Passion, check out all the cool stuff they have. You may need it when you're reading the book.  I just want you to be prepared...

Evan Mora About Slave Girls

Day 7 of the Slave Girls blog tour, and here we are, back where we started. Thanks to the fabulous D. L. for hosting me. So you know, the book is amazing. That’s what everybody’s saying: Publisher’s Weekly, Erotica Revealed, and perhaps more importantly, the incredibly talented, knowledgeable and experienced crew of writers who’ve had a hand in this book (I’m looking at you, Rose Caraway, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Alison Tyler…I could list the whole table of contents, but you get the idea).

So many amazing writers between the covers together, all telling stories about submissive women and Dominant men. Despite the sheer volume of words dedicated to this subject in the wide world of writing, it never seems to grow old. The desire never grows old. The need to submit, the need to relinquish control to a powerful man, beats in the heart and sex of millions of women. What is it about submission that keeps us wanting more? I could wax poetic, tell you a hundred different things, but I’ll settle for a more succinct EVERYTHING, and leave you with an excerpt from my story:

The door swings inward with an ominous groan and my breath catches at the sight of you. Framed in the golden entryway light with your shirt unbuttoned above bespoke suit pants and a tumbler of scotch cradled absently in your palm, you bid me enter with a casual gesture, then close out the early night behind us.
You ask me what I need, the rich tenor of your voice as smoky as the scotch that even now, I know, lingers on your tongue.  That you know what I need matters not. It’s a part of the ritual – the naming of my desires – it has been from the beginning.
“I need…” I say, eyes fixed somewhere below your open collar, on the skin that I know will feel smooth and hot beneath my mouth. You grasp my chin in your hand, exerting enough pressure to force my gaze upwards until I am caught by the impossible arctic blue of your eyes; eyes that appear at once cold and remote, and yet burn like the hottest of flames. You arch an aristocratic brow at my silence and the words spill out, the words that never change, words of hunger and of longing and of desperate, desperate need.
In the silence that follows you weigh my words while your hand slides lower, spanning my neck. Little by little you tighten your hold, and while your gaze never leaves mine I know you miss nothing – not the flutter of my pulse against the pad of your thumb or the convulsive swallow I can’t control as the pressure and my need for air mount. I don’t close my eyes, even when stars threaten and your mouth covers mine with brutal intensity, stealing my reflexive gasp. I want you to see the surrender in my eyes. I want you to know that I am yours.

And, for more of this, I’m afraid you’re going to have to buy the book.  You can get it anywhere.  Here are a few links:

And don't forget, the tour has a lot of stops left. Be sure to go back and catch any posts you may have missed.

Slave Girls Blog Tour Kickoff!

Today kicks off the blog tour for my newest anthology, Slave Girls: Erotic Stories of Submission! Throughout most of the month of June, if you follow the tour, (and I hope you will) you'll get to read excerpts from most of the stories in the book and get a little insight into the minds of the very talented writers whose work appears in this book.

Slave Girls is about what you think it's about. That's right: sexually submissive women and the dominant men they crave/need/love--it's all here. The foreword was written by Rose Caraway, one sexy librarian who knows her way around the hot stuff.

Laura Antoniou, author of the Marketplace books said this about Slave Girls:
"An incredible collection of stories that beautifully encapsulate the rush and fulfillment found only in the act of submission." And here's an excerpt of what I have to say in the introduction:

What is it about power exchange and sexual submission that just does it for me? When I ask myself that question I go a little weake in the knees, and I get that shiver through my body that makes my flesh feel a little like Jell-O. The world stops for a minute while my brain travels to the last good scene I remember. Maybe it was something I read yesterday afternoon, or maybe it was something that I did last night. I know you know the feeling; it's a Pavlovian response. Maybe you start to salivate a little, like Pavolv's dogs. Maybe it's not your mouth that starts to salivate. But it's that craving; that need. You know exactly what you need and the craving for it won't stop until it's been satisfied.

Sexual submission. My mind goes to that place. That ooh... and thane what happens? place. [Here are] handpicked stories specially written to awaken that need and/or satisfy it. Well, the stories won't satisfy it, but you know what will.

Alison Tyler--Right Here, Right Now!

Alison Tyler is guest posting on my blog today.  AT is one of the most remarkable people I know.  Okay, I don't really know her, I mean, not in the flesh, as it were...  I know her online and this is what I know: she's an excellent editor and her fiction is truly transporting.  And that, I think, gives me leave to call her remarkable.  Now I just have to work on actually meeting her in the real world.

“Your dreams are my dreams,” he said, then reached across my body and shut off the light. —The Delicious Torment

I have the most bizarre dreams. Don’t believe me? I once dreamed that I fucked President Bush. It was a pity fuck. (How could it not have been?) But just the same, that one came out of nowhere, as far as I can tell.
Generally, in my dreams, I don’t get what I want. Don’t believe me? I will be on the verge of banging my favorite celebrity only to have him say, “You know, I think you’re sweet and everything, but I’d really rather fuck your mother.”
As Sommer Marsden says, Paging Dr. Freud.”
Several times, I’ve dreamed that I grew a penis, once as a side effect to a medication I was taking. Recently, I dreamed that I solved the question of the origins of life—said the girl who barely passed Chemistry.
But truly, when I have sex dreams, when I’m allowed to actually have sex in the dreams, the results are filthy. In The Delicious Torment, Jack forces Samantha to confess an X-rated dream she’s had while next to him in bed. Not only to tell him, but to act out the scene:

“Describe the dream.”
I huddled up under the blankets, arms wrapped around my legs, and I tried to remember all the details. “I was wearing a thin white nightgown.”
“Do you own one like it?”
            I shook my head.
            “Anything like it?”
            “A sundress.”
            “Go get it.”
I stumbled from the bed and opened the closet, then pulled a semi-sheer sundress from the rack. I slid the gown over my head, and Jack nodded his approval.
            “Continue,” he said.
“You told me to get into position.”
            “What position?”
“Knees bent under me, hands in front of me on the mattress, ass up in the air.”
            “Show me.”
I looked at him, and he moved off the bed, slipping into the black pajama bottoms he’d tossed onto the floor. Jack often started the night wearing the pants, but kicked them off during sleep.
More nervous than ever, I pushed aside the comforter and assumed the position on the mattress.
            “What happened next?”
“You lifted my nightgown, so you could see my ass…”
            “Why was I punishing you?”
            “I—I don’t know.”
I closed my eyes, and the whole of the dream came back to me. I’d been in a school, a boarding school, similar to the one I was creating for my novel. Girls were supposed to wear old-fashioned nightgowns and full-coverage panties to bed, and there had been a nightly check—done by Jack—in my dream. When Jack had come to me, he’d discovered that I had left off the panties. A cane had appeared seemingly from nowhere, as Jack had told me to assume the position, and had caned me to climax, while the other girls gathered around and watched. Giggling. Pointing.
“Tell me,” Jack insisted. “I think you know where we’re headed. You don’t want to make things worse on yourself.”
So I told him. Cast him in the role of headmaster. Explained how I felt when he slowly dragged the fabric up my naked skin, when he revealed my lack of underclothes, when he started to cane me in front of an audience.
“And that made you come,” Jack said softly, “that vision.”
            “Yes, Jack. Yes, Sir.”

Sweet dreams? I don’t think I’m wired that way. But oh do I have a way with the wicked.
